Philippine Franchise AssociationThe Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) was created way back in 1995 as a non-stock, non-profit organization. It was primarily aimed at answering the call for an organization of the existing and expanding franchise business. With both local-based and foreign-based franchises on a steadily growing rate, a need for a centralized body paved way for this organization to come up with guidelines and policies on handling franchise sector. The PFA recognizes the need to help local entrepreneurs to pursue franchising as a way for business growth. It believes that this is a way to national growth as well. Both small-scale and medium-scale enterprises are encouraged to expand to cover grounds on a nationwide basis through affordable financing programs and conceptualizing a standardized computation of franchise fees for interested parties. Seminars and trainings are conducted to help educate the Filipino entrepreneur on the basics in establishing and maintaining a franchise, and how to make them competitive not only in the local market, but the global arena as well, by utilizing world-class standards in the local franchise industry. The PFA also make ties with other agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and local chamber of commerce and industry groups in order to help in the regulation and dissemination of needed information on franchising.
Not only does PFA aid the brewers of local brands, but also from foreign franchisors as well, by providing clear policies on how both local and foreign franchise names can play fairly and in harmony. One particular example is the dissemination of the Intellectual Property Code to all franchisors in order to protect their businesses and to prevent problems from arising specially in those with the same business nature. It also encourages foreign franchisors to expand their market in the Philippines, even giving due recognition to all franchise businesses based on their sales and growth performances. The Franchise Excellence Awards is given by the Philippines Franchise Association to those franchises which has showed exemplary performance in terms of sales, expansion, profit sustainability, and support of both local and foreign franchises. The Philippine Franchise Association maintains its own official website at http://www.philippinefranchiseassociation.com . The site provides useful information to users, such as currently events, articles of interest, programs and road shows. It has a section where interested franchise holders can gain membership in the organization more conveniently through online membership. It also has a FAQ (frequently asked questions) section where visitors will find a lot answers to many common inquiries, like those of franchise procedures, rules, business ventures, securing, buying and selling franchises in general, among other things. Truly, the PFA lives to its motto of being "the voice of the Philippine franchise sector." |
